Ever wondered what your favourite Star Wars’ actors have been up to since you last saw them in space? Well, time to find out and put your curiosity to bed.
Many of the actors in Star Wars have gone on to do other well-known films, while others may have slipped off our screens, or maybe you simply didn’t recognise them without their alien make-up and costumes.
Harrison Ford – Han Solo
Everyone is well aware that Harrison Ford has done a multitude of movies since Star Wars. But perhaps less well-known is Ford’s personal life: he has five children and three grandchildren. Outside of acting Ford is passionate about aviation and has been involved in numerous search-and-rescue operations. He is also passionate about the environment and is Vice-Chair of Conservation International – an American not-for-profit environmental organisation. Following on from the Indiana Jones series, Ford supports archaeologists and is on the board of the Archaeological Institute of America.
Warwick Davis – Wicket
Warwick Davis was 11 when he appeared in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi as Wicket the Ewok. The now 47-year-old actor has done much in the years since, including starting a family, launching a production company, and co-founding a talent agency for those under five feet and those taller than seven feet. He has appeared on stage and screen many times – often as a satirical version of himself.
Mark Hamill – Luke Skywalker
After Star Wars, Mark Hamill appeared in a large number of movies, TV shows and video games and also done a lot of voice acting. His most well-known voice is The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, and he has also appeared in an episode of The Simpsons as himself. His Twitter is filled with jokes, movie references and kind thoughts.
Ewan McGregor – Obi-Wan Kenobi
McGregor appeared in the Star Wars Prequels as young Obi-Wan Kenobi. He took care to match the mannerisms of Sir Alec Guinness’s original Obi-Wan Kenobi and has been enthusiastically angling for an Obi-Wan spin-off movie for years. McGregor is also well-known for his performance in Moulin Rouge! and the recent live action adaptation of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. McGregor has worked in theatre as well including Iago in Othello. In 2004, 2007 and 2012 McGregor made films following his travels as a UNICEF Ambassador – to raise awareness for children in need.
Carrie Fisher – Princess Leia Organa
After her recent death, Carrie Fisher and her work has been highlighted in the minds of the public with the help of her service dog Gary. Fisher was a keen mental health advocate for many years. She had also written a number of books and did uncredited polishing of scripts, as well as a one-woman play of her life.
Leeanna Walsman – Zam Wesell
Walsman is a multi-award nominated Australian actress who is best known for her roles as Zam Wesell the bounty hunter in Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Carly Bishop in Looking for Alibrandi. More recently Walsman has been in the Australian TV series Wentworth as Erica Davidson. She has been involved in many Australian stage and screen productions.
